Information Management: Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS)

Abstract

This regulation on policy and management responsibilities for the Army MARS has been revised. It implements DOD Directive 4650.2. This revision updates the authority, policy and responsibilities for the operation of the Army MARS. It describes a program sponsored by the Department of Defense and supported by the Department of the Army in which military installations, military units, clubs, and volunteer licensed amateur radio stations and operators provide emergency communications on a local, national, and international basis as an adjunct to existing Department of the Army communications.
