Current Unconventional Warfare Capability Versus Future War Requirements

Abstract

This paper deals with current Unconventional Warfare doctrine and capabilities and their role in future war. I discuss the current UW doctrine, thinking and the U.S. capability. I then apply that to several opposing schools of thought about future war. Those schools are broken down by symmetry and technical ability. (high-tech vs low-tech and symmetric vs asymmetric) Essentially, I argue that with some modification, present UW doctrine, thinking and capability will be key for American victory in future conflict.
