Financial Management: Military Traffic Management Command Handling of Container Detention Charges

Abstract

This report discusses the Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC) Operations Directorate handling of detention charges that motor carriers incurred. MTMC uses DoD-owned intermodal containers, as well as those that the commercial transportation industry furnishes, to deliver equipment and supplies to America's warfighters. The MTMC Operations Directorate, located at Fort Eustis, Virginia, is responsible for synchronizing surface cargo that moves through the Defense Transportation System and for providing traffic management and strategic port management to a variety of DoD customers.
