Medical Services: Veterinary/Medical Food Inspection and Laboratory Service

Abstract

Desert Shield/Desert Storm heightened the awareness of the U.S. Army Veterinary Service regarding the need to more clearly define areas of responsibility. The continued presence of U.S. Forces in Southwest Asia further emphasized the need for realignment of veterinary support. In an effort to develop plans and provide expedient responses which meet the needs of the diversity of commands operating in Southwest Asia the Veterinary Service defined lines of communication and support. This permanent change is the result of the actions initially published as an interim change.
