Human Factors in Network Centric Warfare

Abstract

The speed of information transfer in Network Centric Warfare is rapidly out pacing the capability to absorb and act effectively. Numerous problems, such as micro-management and limited endurance have been documented in studies of human interaction in information systems. Many of these problems are the result of limited human cognitive capability in the face of the massive amounts of information provided in NCW. Specifically, the operational level of warfare, commanders are being overwhelmed due to human factors, limitations and tendencies.
