Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan

Abstract

Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans (ICRMPs) for the Marine Corps are required by Marine Corps Order (MCO) 5090.2A, OfICE OF THE Chief of Naval Operations Instruction (OPNAVINST) 5090.1B CH-1 23-5 2.2 and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 4715.3. An ICRMP is a 5-year plan that outlines how an installation will manage its cultural resources in compliance with cultural resources statutes, executive orders, presidential memoranda, regulations, and other requirements. It is a component of the installation master plan and serves as the Commanding General's decision document for cultural resources management actions and specific compliance procedures. ICRMPs are internal Marine Corps compliance and management plans that (1) integrate the entirety of the installation cultural resources program with ongoing mission activities, (2) allow for ready identification of potential conflicts between the installation's mission and cultural resources, and (3) identify compliance-driven actions necessary to maintain the availability of mission-essential properties and acreage. This ICRMP for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, provides a forum to examine long-term management goals, to explore the intended focus of efforts on critical issues, and to achieve consensus about these things.
