Merging University Students into K?12 Science Education Reform
Abstract
This research project began by asking the question "Is there a role for scientists in K-12 educational reform efforts?" Judging by the investment that federal funding agencies have made toward programs designed to utilize the expertise of scientists in K-12 reform, it would seem that many feel that there is indeed a role for those trained in science in K-12 education. Highly competent, skilled scientists are a rich resource in our society that may be useful in strengthening science and mathematics education in schools across the country. It seems, appropriate, therefore to continue to develop effective ways of merging scientists, as resources, into our educational system.
