Kontinuitaet oder Wandel - ein neues Grand Design der US-Aussenpolitik? (Continuity or Change - A New Grand Design in US Foreign Policy?)

Abstract

This very brief discussion paper gives an overview of the development of United States foreign policy during the Clinton Administration (1993-2000), and how the things seem for the beginning of the twenty-first century. Most of the opinions and facts are culled from the pages of Foreign Affairs, and the study reads quite quickly because of the extreme generalizations it inflicts upon the subject matter. The author concludes that the strengthening isolationism of the United States will incur great problems upon itself in the years to come, because it cannot afford to ignore the happenings in the international arena.
