Personalentwicklung (Personnel Development)

Abstract

Personnel development is an important instrument of personnel management in order to form the performance capacity and ability to adapt in a given enterprise. The author first enumerates the principles, goals, methods, and recipients of personnel development. The main tasks and instruments, such as further education, reschooling, promotions, cooperation with human resources, and reintegration, are then discussed. A special section is devoted to the most important of these instruments: education and training. Career planning, insofar as it broaches upon the goals of an individual's development in relation to PD, precipitates a final section on the formation of the arena of action for realizing the theoretical approaches mentioned.
