Zu den Rechtlichen Grundlagen und Rahmenbedingungen der Zuwanderung Nach Deutschland (On the Legal Bases and Framework of Conditions for Immigration to Germany)

Abstract

Although steps were being taken recently to change the immigration laws in Germany (these measures were reversed following September 11th), there were de jure few immigration-friendly stipulations in the German legal system at the time of this study's publication (1998). The author reviews the history of immigration to Germany, the current (1998) state of affairs and newest developments in this field, the most pressing questions under consideration, and the integration and segregation of immigrants in the Federal Republic. Statistics on immigrant origin and immigration motives are provided, as well as on the meteoric rise (1100 percent) in the number of foreign nationals in Germany since 1960.
