Schulsystem und Minderheitenpolitik in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Sachsen-Anhalt (School System and Minority Policy in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Sachsen-Anhalt)

Abstract

Relying heavily on statistics, this general survey broaches the demographic makeup of the school systems in the German regions of Mecklenburg-Vorpommem and Sachsen-Anhalt, then goes on to detail the role played by minority groups in these regions. The minority group pupils are profiled in terms of ethnic origin, language aptitude, career options, as well as their adaptation to the school curriculum. Importantly and lastly, the school curriculum is likewise scrutinized insofar as it has changed over the years to meet the evolving German demography. This section covers the most territory and suggests that further integration must be coupled with this mutual adaptation in order for the foreign-born pupils to become productive citizens in their new homeland.
