The Pischaetz Castle: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (Schloss Pischaetz: Gestern - heute - morgen)

Abstract

The study traces the ownership of and residence in the land and castle of Poschaetz, located in the Slovenian town of Brezhice from its inception in the late thirteenth up through the twenty-first century. The paper contains many computer-generated pictures of some of the nobility who once graced the now-decrepit fortress, as well as sketches and floorplans of the building itself. More than 40 percent of the text is related to the events of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in which the castle ownership changed hands and was confronted with vastly new European social conditions.
