Verschiebungseffekte der EWU: Juristische Aspekte (The Effects of the Delay of the European Monetry Union: Legal Aspects)

Abstract

Many legal questions arise from the planned European Monetary Union on January 1, 2002. Two of the most important are to what degree, according to the Maastricht proposal, the Central EU Council's decisions would be legally binding, and whether the right to trial within the Union's framework in the form of various possibilities for plaintiffs would be put to use. The author suggests that delaying the Monetary Union would contradict efforts to secure internal markets and dampen political integration.
