Enhancing Decision Performance

Abstract

This report results from a contract tasking University of Southampton as follows: The contractor will investigate the link between knowledge acquisition (via training) and usability (via testing), as well as between the stage of planning and decision-making and the stage in which plans & decisions are executed. Experiments will investigate how people internalize and represent information, and how this influences their subsequent ability to use that information. Results will focus on the ability to generalize beyond examples used during training, the ability to use and incorporate new information, the capacity to be flexible, and the ability to develop creative solutions dictated by changing task demands under high information load and time pressure.
