ALCAN Viewgraph

Abstract

The Advanced Lightweight Chamber and Nozzle (ALCAN) program is focused on achieving IHPRPT Phase 2 goals for 25 percent reduced cost, 60 percent increased thrust/weight, and up to 15 percent improved performance of the current state of the art in rocket engines. The overwrapped formed platelet inner chamber will reduce parts count and improve chamber cooling and life. Channel wall technology and advanced materials used in the nozzle will contribute to major reductions in weight, and altitude-compensating technology will increase mission average performance.
