Real-Time Extraction of Readiness-Potentials From EEG

Abstract

Real-time EEG processing is desired as a communication tool for disabled individuals. However, motion- related potential as the cerebral phenomenon corresponding to the subject's intention for autokinesia is embedded in the background potential, therefore, the real-time extraction of significant signal is quite difficult In this paper, our aim is a real-time readiness-potential extraction from EEG with relatively small number of scalp electrodes and the extraction of the difference among readiness- potentials based on different autokinesias by means of the combination of Independent component analysis (ICA) and scalp Laplacian.
