A-7D HAVE BOUNCE. Volume 2. Test Data
Abstract
The Structures Division has supported the HAVE BOUNCE program in the areas of modeling, instrumentation, and data reduction since its inception in the mid-1970s. This report documents the data gathered during the tests of the A-7D attack aircraft over rough runways at Whiteman Air Force Base, MO between December 5 and December 20, 1984. This data consists of time-history plots of the wing, center of gravity, and pilot's seat accelerations along with loads, pressures, and displacements on the landing gear, brake pressure, and aircraft velocity. A complete description of the test program is contained in the companion report AFWAL-TM-85-256. The aircraft was provided and supported by the 132nd Tactical Fighter Wing, Iowa Air National Guard. Two aircraft configurations were tested during this project: 24,500 and 42,000 pounds gross weight. These aircraft were tested over single and multiple bumps of 3-inch height and 78-foot length. The purpose behind this test program was to provide data on the aircraft's response to runway roughness, which could be used to validate computational models.
