Treatment Strategies for the NMDA Component of Organophosphorus Convulsions

Abstract

Purpose of the study is to determine effectiveness of novel anticonvulsant and neuroprotectant drugs in lithium-pilocarpine (Li- pilo) induced status epilepticus (SE) used as a model of cholinergic convulsions induced by organophosphorus nerve agents. D-Cycloserine doses of 125 and 250 mg/kg (IP) administered immediately following pilocarpine administration or after 5 min of SE induced no anticonvulsant or neuroprotective effect.
