Al-Qaeda: Center of Gravity and Decisive Points

Abstract

The strategic center of gravity for the war against Al-Qaeda is the extremist ideology practiced by Usama bin Laden and his followers. This strategy research project (SRP) intends to look at the circumstances that empower Usama bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda terrorist network in their war against the United States. It analyzes the strategic elements of this conflict from a Clauswitzian perspective of a strategic center of gravity with supporting decisive points. It concludes with a recommended course of action for defeating Al-Qaeda, based on the foregoing analysis.
