Optimization of Technique Factors for full-Field Digital Mammography and Comparison of Optimized Techniques to Screen-Film Mammography

Abstract

The technical objectives of this study are to determine optimum techniques for a flat-panel Cesium- iodide silicon-diode full-field digital mammography system and to compare those optimized techniques to screen-film mammography at equal breast doses This project continued in the second year with work focused on analyzing the data and writing a manuscript for publication Statistical analysis was performed using the SAS software package comparing contrast-detail scores and looking for trends among different target-filter combinations as kilo-voltage peak values were increased From this, a manuscript was written titled "Optimization of technique factors for a silicon diode array full-field digital mammography system and comparison to screen-film mammography with matched average glandular dose" This paper represents presents the majority of results from this project to date The paper was accepted for publication in Medical Physics for March 2003.
