Lagrangian Analysis and Predictability of Coastal and Ocean Dynamics, 2000 LAPCOD Meeting, Held in Ischia, Italy, October 2-6, 2000

Abstract

Meeting has been structured to encouraged collaboration between biological and physical oceanographers, numerical modelers, mathematicians and meteorologists who use Lagrangian measurements, both in-situ and simulated, to understand and model ocean and coastal dynamics. The following main topics were discussed: Observations and biological applications; Theory of dispersion/transport/mixing; A day of interactions via a group social activity; Lagrangian instruments and data analysis techniques; and Assimilation of Lagrangian data and predictability of trajectories.
