Domestic Preparedness Program: Phase 2 Sarin Vapor Challenge and Corn-Oil Protection Factor (PF) Testing of Commercial Air-Purifying Negative Pressure Respirators

Abstract

Results of performance testing of commercial air-purifying negative pressure respirators (NPR) are described. Three series of tests were performed: (1) breakthrough time determinations of cartridges/canisters against Sarin (GB), (2) GB vapor breakthrough determination of entire NPR systems using manikin head form and simulated breathing, and (3) corn-oil protection factor determinations of NPR systems using human subjects.
