An Assessment of Semiconductor Diode Laser Paint Removal Applied to Fiberglass/Epoxy Substrates

Abstract

High power semiconductor diode laser technology has matured to the point of feasibility for application to organic coatings removal from aircraft metallic and composite materials. This program evaluated the operating characteristics and the effects of diode laser paint removal on flexural strength and microstructure of fiberglass/epoxy composite.
