ManTech Journal. Earlier MT Consideration. Volume 9, Number 4, 1984
Abstract
THE MANTECH JOURNAL is prepared quarterly for the U.S. Army under the sponsorship of the Directorate for Manufacturing Technology, DARCOM, by the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center, Watertown, Massachusetts through the Metals and Ceramics Information Center, Battelle's Columbus Laboratories, Columbus, Ohio. This issue of the U.S. Army ManTech Journal contains a wide range of manufacturing technology articles from several DARCOM commands; also a large number of brief reports on the status of ongoing Army mantech projects. These latter briefs complete the most comprehensive coverage our publication has given in one year of current projects--a practice that we plan to continue into 1985 and beyond as new projects come on stream to replace those being completed each year. The Tank-Automotive R&D Command furnished us with four interesting articles from their own newspaper. They include discourses on flexible manufacturing systems-, chemical agent resistant paints, laser welding systems, and simulated vehicle testing. Table of Contents includes: composites for aluminum extrusions, automated manufacture for low volume production, larger laser rods produced, epitaxial growth of GaAsP material, resistant paint to protect vehicle crews, semi-additive printed wiring, briefing status reports, power and inertia stimulator simplifies testing, TFT display design complete, and cheaper welds for the M1 system.
