Zinc Oxide Based Photonics Devices

Abstract

The objectives of this project are to develop critical technologies required for ZnO-based photonic device; high-quality ZnO film growth, p/n-doping processes, etching processes, and fabrication of ZnO light emitting devices. We have developed such critical technologies% in this Phase I work. Prototype ZnO light emitting devices have been successfully fabricated and tested for a feasibility study to assess whether ZnO devices can satisfy the operational requirements as photonics devices to emit and detect U/V light at room temperature. Based on these achievements, ZnO-based photonic devices can be used for defense applications. They will be available in the market.
