Soviet Assault Aviation 1938-1945

Abstract

This work speaks about Soviet Union assault aviation development from the 1933 to 1945. It provides a short view on the creation phase of the Bed Army military aviation. Next, it gives a purview of Red Army theoretical ideas according to functions and applications of military aviation. At the next stage, it focuses on the development of assault aviation theory and ideas for special aircraft created for accomplish these missions. This chapter examines in detail the sturmovik IL-2 as racy deputy of that type of aviation at WWII period of time. The last part of the research analyzes the application of the assault aviation in the Great Patriotic War (Stalingrad, Kuban, and Kitrskay, a Dtiga), using several particular period documents.
