Curating Geological Collections

Abstract

ONR funding was used to accomplish the long-term goals of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Geological Collections, which have been and continue to be, to serve the scientific community by acquisition, maintenance, conservation and curation of marine geological samples; to make the scientific community aware of our holdings; to encourage utilization of the collection for the scientific study and science educational purposes; to develop consistent policies and procedures through active cooperation with other marine geological repositories; and to support related activities at SIO and the scientific community at large.
