Role of Angiogenesis in the Etiology and Prevention of Ovarian Cancer. 4. Prevention of Ovarian Carcinoma Dissemination by Inhibiting Cell Adhesion

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to evaluate the mechanism by which ovarian cancer cell spread with in the peritoneal cavity. Ovarian cancer cells adhere to mesothelial cells and their extracellular matrix lining the peritoneum. Characterizing the cell surface molecules involved in this interaction will facilitate development of methods to inhibit ovarian cancer spread and perhaps limit their growth as well.
