Cleanup Plan for Fuel Spills at Air Operations Ramp, Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory

Abstract

This Cleanup Plan (Final) outlines the cleanup requirements ror three JP-5 fuel-contaminated sites located on the Air Operations ramp. The plan describes how to efficiently and effectively clean the sites, provides estimates or cleanup duration and cost. The plan is based on Bioslurper fuel recovery eliorts that have been underway at the ramp since 1996. The design or the Bioslurper accommodates rapid takedown or fuel recovery system to clear the aircrart ramp. Natural Attenuation processes will be monitored for cleanup of residual fuel in soils and the small amount of fuel constituents that dissolve into the groundwater.
