The DIAMOND Model of Peace Support Operations

Abstract

DIAMOND (Diplomatic And Military Operations in a Non-warfighting Domain) is a high-level stochastic simulation program developed at Defence Science and Technology Lab, Analysis, as a key centerpiece within the Peace Support Operations (PSO) modeling jigsaw. The program is designed to examine the utility of military force elements and equipment, the effectiveness of future force structures, and possible outcomes of different operational strategies within PSO. It represents the differing parties in a PSO, which may include military organizations, non-combatants, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and civilians, together with their relationships.
