United States Marine Corps Concept of Link Employment Assessment Study

Abstract

The Marine Corps capstone operational concept, Operational Maneuver From The Sea (OMFTS), describes a marriage of maneuver warfare and naval amphibious operations. This is the centerpiece of our preparations for future expeditionary warfare. OMFTS applies across the range of military operations, from major theater war to small-scale contingencies. It applies maneuver warfare to expeditionary power projection in naval operations as part of a joint or multinational campaign. OMFTS allows the force to exploit the sea as a maneuver space while applying combat power ashore to achieve operational objectives. The OMFTS concept embodies the Marine Corns Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare (EMVV) concept in the context of expeditionary operations from a sea base.
