B-1B Wing Shear Bearing Maintenance Repair (SD11)

Abstract

The primary purpose of this report is to provide documentation regarding the status of the Contractor Field Team (OFT) Wing Shear Bearing Maintenance Repair effort at Ellsworth AFB for the period 30 June 2004 through 31 July 2004. Four (4) aircraft were in work during July 2004 with two (2) aircraft completed. The completed aircraft were both Dyess jets (A/C's 85-0089 and 86-0109). Aircraft 86- 0130 completed the Dorsal Longeron Repair and several members of the Shear Bearing Repair OFT have traveled to Dyess AFB and have begun the Dorsal Repair on Aircraft 85-0065. Currently, two (2) jets in work are 86-0134 (AMARO designated aircraft) and 86-0112 (a combined Shr Brg Repair I Blk E Mod jet). Due to concerns over completing the Shear Bearing Repair on the remaining 6 aircraft (All Dyess jets) in the time remaining per the SD1 I Delivery Order, it was determined that to mitigate that schedule risk, the Boeing CFT would relocate there effort to Dyess. PCO approval for this move was received June 26. The last six aircraft requiring the Shear Bearing Repair will be worked between Aug 16th and Oct 14th with the last jet being inducted on 28 September 2004.
