Research Plan of the Operations Research Center and Department of Systems Engineering for the Academic Year 2005

Abstract

The purpose of this document is to formally present the research program of the US. Military Academy Department of Systems Engineering (DSE) and the Operations Research Center for Excellence (ORCEN) for the Academic Year 04-05. The research plan includes a statement of purpose for research which supports DSE and the ORCEN, a description of the two organizations, a list of the key personnel responsible for executing the plan, and an overview of the annual research cycle. After this introduction, we present research summaries for applied research or problem- solving project, including Cadet Capstone Projects. Each summary includes a problem statement, a proposed methodology for project execution, project requirements and deliverables, estimates of milestones, and the number of man-years required to complete the work. Additional information is provided on the senior investigator, principal analyst or Capstone team, the client organization, and points of contact.
