Multichannel Graduated Non-Convexity Theory Summary

Abstract

This paper contains the mathematical foundation needed to extend the graduated non-convexity (GNC) method to the multichannel setting (vector valued data) in dimensions 1 and 2. The theory is presented as a collection of definitions and propositions with proofs. The result for dimensions 3 or greater is stated without proof; the proof follows the same steps as in dimensions 1 and 2. The most important technical issue to be resolved is whether the convex approximation exists and how to obtain it. An outline of the GNC method in the one dimensional, single channel setting is included for completeness.
