Optimization of Electronically Integrated Smart Actuators

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to develop a multidisciplinary optimization methodology for the integrated design of a smart actuator consisting of: (1) an active material that functions as the main transducer, (2) a compliant mechanism that serves as a mechanical amplifier, and (3) drive electronics to provide the electrical power.
