Record of Decision Shepley's Hill Landfill Operable Unit Areas of Contamination 4, 5, and 18 Fort Devens, Massachusetts

Abstract

This decision document presents the U.S. Army's selected remedial action for the Shepley's Hill Landfill Operable Unit, Fort Devens, Massachusetts. It was developed in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) as amended, 42 USC 9601 et seq. and the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) as amended, 40 CFR Part 300, to the extent practicable. The Fort Devens Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Environmental Coordinator; the Installation Commander; the U.S. Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and Installation Management; and the Director of the Waste Management Division, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency New England have been delegated the authority to approve this Record of Decision. Actual or potential releases of hazardous substances from the Shepley's Hill Landfill Operable Unit, if not addressed by implementing the response action selected in this Record of Decision, may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to the public health, welfare, or the environment.
