On a Theory of Rates
Abstract
While the concept of Rate is common to many disciplines, there exists no consistent and general mathematical theory of rates in any discipline. In this reports, a general theory of rates is developed as a transformation of a discrete or punctuated representation into a continuous representation using functional theory. Stochastic events are represented using Renewal Theory and Order Statistics. Examples of several rate differential equations are presented, in some cases differing considerably from their equivalent and ad hoc developments.
