Workload Modeling and Workload Management: Recent Theoretical Developments

Abstract

This report presents suggestions for potential enhancements of the workload modeling capabilities available within the U.S. Army Research Laboratory's Human Research and Engineering Directorate's Improved Performance Research Integration Tool (IMPRINT). These suggestions are based on a review of current theory and empirical evidence in the areas of workload modeling, prediction, and management. Nine suggestions for potential IMPRINT enhancements are identified, ranging from changes in the workload scales themselves to modifications of the logic with which management strategies are triggered. Relevant background sources, including theoretical bases, are provided and discussed.
