Knowledge Base Formation Using Integrated Complex Information

Abstract

An intelligence support system has been developed using open hypermedia architecture. This approach integrates information from distributed disparate sources into a knowledge base. A public interface supports access by external applications. Filtering and change detection functions have also been implemented. The approach has shown promise in multiple domains, indicating possible wide application. This paper discusses the principles of the hypermedia framework for this system and how these principles may influence command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems in general.
