Department of Defense Base Structure Report (A Summary of DOD's Real Property Inventory), Fiscal year 2005 Baseline

Abstract

The Base Structure Report represents a consolidated summary of the Services native real property inventories to provide an overall look at the physical infrastructure that makes up the Department of Defense. This report has been published annually since 1999 and is used for many functions both internal and external to the Department. Every September, the Services provide a comprehensive database of their real property inventory to the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment. This data is then compiled into the Facilities Assessments Database (FAD) for use in providing a comprehensive listing of installations and sites owned and used by the Department. For each site large enough to be individually listed in the report, a summary of facilities, square footage, a Plant Replacement Value and personnel are provided. Other pertinent information such as the name of the nearest city, zip codes, and a contact phone number for the site are included when available.
