The Effect of Processing Parameters on the Microwave Absorption by Polyaniline/PMMA Composites

Abstract

Conductive thermoplastic PMMA composites containing Polyaniline conductive filler were prepared. Conditions were varied in order to examine their effect on the electrical and microwave properties. Ball-milling for 2 h prior to heating at 175 deg C at 8- psi for 3 min in the presence of 10 wt % hydroquinone plasticizer was found to give composites with the highest measured microwave absorption in the X-band (8-12 GHz). Loss tangents as high as 44 were attained under these conditions.
