Department of Defense Youth Poll Report and Crosstabulations Wave 8 - November 2004

Abstract

The Department of Defense (DoD) conducts Youth Polls on a regular basis to measure youth's perceptions of the military and propensity to enlist in the military. This report details the findings of the November 2004 Youth Poll. The primary focus of the poll was to measure the likelihood of youth ages 16-21 to join the military and to identify the factors that influence their decision. In addition, this Youth Poll measured youth's favorability and knowledge of the military, their sources of impressions of the military, effective communications strategies, opinions of recruiters and perceptions of how supportive various people would be if they joined the military.
