Distributed Collaboration Environment for Research (DYCER)

Abstract

The DyCER project was an experiment in using file sharing as an integral part of network-based collaboration environment. During the course of the project, we tested the concepts in many different scenarios and used the feedback to refine the system. As a result, the software became more efficient and suited to a broader class of real-world applications. The ability to share information securely and quickly in groups with dynamic membership is a powerful capability that can become the building block for new classes of applications. The work done under DARPA funding has demonstrated that military, government, and business users can benefit immediately from DyCER's enhanced architecture and implementation.
