Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) Human Machine Interface (HMI) Design Guide

Abstract

he Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Design Guide is the product of collaboration between the Air Force Research Laboratory Human Effectiveness Directorate (AFRL/HE) and the Air Combat Command's C2ISR Operations Division (CC/DOY) and Directorate of Requirements (ACC/DRR). This design guide attempts to merge best practices and guidance from the. HMI, human factors, and usability engineering disciplines with significant input from BMC2 operator interviews. The objective of this design guide is to provide HMl architects and designers with more consistent and intuitive design guidance to ensure that future interfaces are useable and that training requirements are minimized, while ensuring COTS compatibility and interoperability with comparable "look and feel" across future MC2 workstations.
