Hydrologic, Water-Quality, Sediment Transport, and Bulk Atmospheric-Deposition Data, Guanella Pass Area, Colorado, October 1, 1994, through September 30, 1997

Abstract

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) proposes to reconstruct and resurface the existing road over Guanella Pass between Georgetown and Grant, Colo. (fig. I). The hydrology and water quality of streams and lakes in the area could be affected by the proposed reconstruction. In 1994, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the FHWA began a cooperative study to determine the hydrology and water quality in the Guanella Pass area, part of the environmental investigation being conducted by the FHWA. This report presents hydrologic, water-quality, sediment transport, and bulk atmospheric deposition data collected in the Guanella Pass area, primarily during water years 1996 through 1997 (October 1, 1995, through September 30, 1997), and the methods used for data collection.
