Health and Readiness Medical Survey Plus
Abstract
At present, Madigan Army Medical Center and the Fort Lewis community use HERMES on kiosks and tablet PCs to conduct required and ad hoc surveys related to soldier readiness and wellness. This includes pre- and post-deployment surveys, the Health Risk Appraisal, depression surveys, and other measures as needed or required. Soldiers will simply swipe their CAC card through the bar code reader affixed to each kiosk. The HERMES system calls up the patient's demographics from CHCS. Each user then verifies his/her demographics and then proceeds to the next step of the process. At this point a list of required surveys appears. The user completes the surveys required that day, and then receives a printout of the medical stations at the SRP site that he or she needs to go through to be in compliance with FORSCOM standards. The surveys are passed to the applications that are responsible for them so that clinicians and other health-care providers can access and use the information in caring for the soldiers. The kiosks also are used to support patient check-in for appointments and are able to access CHCS and credit appointments, page the nurse or clinician the appointment is with, and ask the patient basic JCAHO and customer satisfaction questions. The kiosks also provide a very basic health summary for each soldier/patient.
