Boundary Conditions for the Method of Lines Applied to Hyperbolic Systems

Abstract

A fundamental problem in the numerical solution of hyperbolic equations is the proper approximation of the boundary conditions. For example, the leapfrog scheme applied to the following hyperbolic problem is unstable.
