Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the Military: A Selected Bibliography

Abstract

Due to current military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan, there has been a renewed interest in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and its presentation in military personnel. This bibliography lists citations for books, documents, articles, audiovisuals, and Internet sites related to this topic. Specifically, the cited items focus on PTSD resulting from combat exposure in current and past military engagements and peacekeeping operations. The majority of the items cited are dated 1990 to the present. A few notable exceptions include materials concerning PTSD in veterans of the Vietnam War. The links to the web sites included in this bibliography were active as of 16 November 2005. All items are available in the U.S. Army War College Library collection or can be accessed from the Internet. For readers' convenience, call numbers or Internet addresses were added at the end of each book or document entry. (Call numbers indicate the item's shelf location in the War College library.) This bibliography also is available on the Internet through the library's home page at <http://www.carlisle.army.mil/library>.
