Abstract

The uses of classification and coding as a tool to integrate computer aided design and manufacturing are described. The information revolution has created an enormity of data which is increasingly difficult to access. In recent years, companies have turned to classification and coding systems as a means of organizing raw data and retrieving useful relevant information. Essentially, classification is a means of separating raw information into classes of similar information; coding is a means of retrieving the information so that it can be analyzed and applied to accomplish specific objectives.
