MoVaTrac: A Multiscale Optical Flow Algorithm Analyzing the Dynamics in Solar EUV Images

Abstract

This report results from a contract tasking Royal Observatory of Belgium as follows: The Grantee will investigate novel methods for predicting the arrival of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) using a series of solar images of Extreme Ultraviolet (UV) light. The aim of the research will be to establish image characteristics and pattern recognition sequences in predicting CMEs.
